Guyana’s efforts to bridge its skills gap through workforce development, diaspora engagement, and labour mobility were highlighted during the Dialogue on Diaspora Engagement and Migrant Skills hosted through a collaboration between the Government of Guyana and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Minister of Labour and Manpower Planning, Hon. Keoma D. Griffith, M.P., delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of safe, orderly, ethical, and well-regulated labour migration.
Minister Griffith also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights, strengthening labour administration systems, and preparing the national workforce to meet the country’s growing labour demands.
The forum brought together Government officials, private sector representatives, international partners, and diaspora stakeholders to explore practical strategies for addressing labour shortages, workforce planning, and sustainable national development.
