Fifteen graduates are now certified in the Level One Aircraft Maintenance Foundation Skills Programme following the successful completion of training delivered through the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) in collaboration with the Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School.
The programme, launched on July 10, 2025, at the Essequibo Technical Institute, represents a $19.4 million investment in technical and vocational education.
The initiative also marked the first time the aircraft maintenance programme was delivered in a decentralised location, providing greater access to specialised aviation training for residents of Regions One and Two.
The programme forms part of the Government of Guyana’s continued efforts to expand technical and vocational training opportunities and equip citizens with skills needed to meet the country’s growing workforce demands.
