Engagement on Single Plastics and Styrofoam Ban at Portsmouth

The Ministry of Environment Climate Resilience, Disaster Management and Urban Renewal, and the Ministry of Tourism on Friday 11th January 2019 engaged in a discussion with the residents of the north to discuss the ban of the single use of plastic and styrofoam.

The discussion highlighted the list of banned products, alternatives and fun facts. Addressing the discussion were Dr.John, Director of Bureau, Florian Mitchell, General Manager of Dominica Solid Waste and officials of the Customs department.

There is a ban on importation in effect from January 1st, 2019 and a six month phase period for distribution of non-biodegradable products already in stock prior to January 1st, 2019.
