Endometriosis Takes Center Stage

Junior Chambers International Dominica (JCI) and Women’s Health Plus held a discussion at the University of the West West Indies Open Campus to educate and advocate for women who suffer with Endometriosis.

Endometriosis affects women and results when tissue that is supposed to grow in the inside of the uterus grows on the outside of it.

Founder of Women’s Health Plus, Trudy Christian says, “I recently started a business called Women’s Health Plus which has the primary focus of providing health education which will empower women of all ages. This month is Endometriosis awareness month and since this disease is a fairly prevalent female medical condition, I felt it necessary to increase awareness about it locally”.

Christian continues, “I also have partnered with several regional groups which are all aiming to increase awareness around Endometriosis among other women’s reproductive health issues and we are striving to share information across the region”.

The discussion proved to be an immense success with many women sharing their own experiences with Endometriosis and the resulting fertility and mental struggles.
