Fans of nine-year-old Emanuella, the famous Nigerian comedy star will get the opportunity to watch her live and in living colour, on Friday December 13th at Lindo Park in Goodwill, where she and the rest of the Mark Angel Comedy ensemble will be performing their famous skits as part of the Laugh out Loud Comedy Tour.
The tour will see the cast performing throughout the Caribbean with confirmed dates in several islands including Antigua, Grenada, St. Lucia, Jamaica and St. Maarten. Antigua-based Eventz Décor is responsible for the shows in both Antigua (December 1) and Dominica. The company is owned by seasoned events professional Bryan DeSilvia who is very encouraged by fan feedback so far.
“The response on social media has been amazing. I think at first people were excited, but a bit hesitant to believe that Emanuella was really coming to Dominica, but once they saw that she endorsed the event, the numbers went through the roof,” he said.
Dominican event professional Ayodele Andrew will manage event production while Ayeola George is responsible for marketing and publicity.
“This is an exciting project for Ayo and myself,” says Ms. George. “We both have proven records in events and we’re thrilled to be affiliated with brand Emanuella and Mark Angel. This is an event the whole family will love.”
Emanuella is well known for her role in the skit ‘This is Not My Real Face Oh’ where she was making fun of her school headmistress to another student, only to find out the student was the headmistress’ daughter. She has been performing with the Mark Angel comedy group since the age of five and has won several accolades to date including Top Subscribed Creator from YouTube at the inaugural edition of the Sub-Saharan African YouTube Awards. She also won the Best New Comedienne & Princess of Comedy awards at the Afro-Australia Music & Movie Awards (AAMMA).
The Mark Angel comedy series, created and produced by Mark Angel, gained popularity from his early skit, ‘Oga Landlord,’ where a man (Angel) whose rent is due, hides from his landlord (Daddy Humble), while trying in vain to have a child (Emanuella) cover for him (“My uncle is not around. He just told me”).
The series received a plaque from YouTube for having reached one million subscriptions in 2017. It was the first Nigerian-based YouTube channel to reach that threshold.
The cast also includes the adorable 5-year-old, Success Mmadubuike. The show will be hosted by Jamaican comedy sensation Christopher “Johnny” Daley. Local entertainers DJ Midian and Topherr, as well as Barbadian singer Rick Rick, are also scheduled on the lineup.
