The importance of Education to one climbing social ladders was highlighted by the Manager of the Central Cooperative Credit Union Limited(CCCUL) at the organization’s tenth scholarship award ceremony.
Manager, Cleo Watts, said, “At Central, we believe that Education is pivotal to social mobility. Hence, this year marks the tenth anniversary of our scholarship programme which provides successful GSAT students with vital financial support towards secondary education”.
Watts said that the institution has touched the lives of 42 children of members of the cooperative.
The J.B Eugene Scholarship based on merit went to Kermit Robinson and Kennilee Baron, while the Father Raymond Postman scholarship based on need went to Samarah Volney and Ashton Alexander.
The scholarship includes the payment of school fees, purchasing of textbooks, stationery and uniform over a five year period. Watts reminded the students that success will not find them instead they have to go out and find it.
The ceremony was held on at the State of the Art Conference Center of the Central Cooperative Credit Union Limited.
