The IESC (International Executive Service Corps) has launched a new three-year USAID-funded program in the Eastern and Southern Caribbean (ESC) that will improve food security and strengthen farmer livelihoods. The $5.3 million Caribbean Agricultural Productivity Improvement Activity (CAPA) will help farmers and stakeholders in the fruit and vegetable industry by promoting the use of market-driven agricultural practices and technologies, which will also make it easier to connect with domestic and regional markets.
IESC is a leading U.S. non-profit organization that fosters private sector development in the economically developing world. Since 1964, IESC has delivered lasting solutions that have resulted in more than 1.5 million jobs in 137 countries, partners with businesses, farmers, entrepreneurs, and the public sector to sustainably build capacity, improve productivity, create jobs, and grow enterprises.
IESC has recruited a local Market-led Production Specialist for CAPA for Dominica. The Market-led Production Specialist will deliver and facilitate on-the-ground implementation of production level capacity building interventions in collaboration with local partners, and technical experts. The Market-led Production Specialist will engage closely in the field with farmers, farmer groups, private-sector agribusinesses, and public-sector extension service providers to support farmer-led demonstration sites for the delivery of training and technical assistance to enable farmers to apply improved practices and technologies necessary to meet quality and quantity specifications from buyers.
