Remarkably, twenty-two year old Brian Joseph of the north-eastern community of Marigot has brought superb news to Dominica after having excelled at the Home Counties Premier Cricket League (HCPCL) in England. Recently, Joseph captured seven wickets in an innings, including a hattrick and four maidens.

In April 2022, Kevin Clark, Director of the Buckingham Town Cricket Club expressed that he was happy to welcome the new players to the 2022 season. “We have been working hard to bring in new additions to the club and I am pleased with what we have achieved. We look forward to welcoming Lahiru Gamage, Ewan Cox, Andy Marston, Abdul Qader, Harvey Eltham, Jake Tarling, Hashan Ramanadapulle, Ben Ungaretti and Brian Joseph to our club this year,” he stated.

Pointedly, Joseph was given the opportunity to participate and represent as an oversea-based player at the HCPCL due to the efforts of Shane Shillingford, former national cricketer, West Indian off-spinner and bowler for the Buckingham Town Cricket Club.

Furthermore, prior to Joseph’s success at league cricket, he represented the Windward Islands at youth level and Dominica at various levels in the under 13, under 15 and under 19 categories.

Joining with the efforts of Shane Shillingford, the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Community Development has also pledged financial support to Joseph and have wished him well throughout the tournament.

Emonews also takes the opportunity to congratulate Joseph and wish him future success.
