Dominica’s national football team put up a spirited effort in a close 3-2 defeat to Bermuda in their second Concacaf Nations League game. After a tough 6-1 loss in the first encounter, the team fought hard to improve their performance and make a comeback.
In the second game, Bermuda led 2-0 by halftime, but Dominica returned with determination. Troy Jules scored early in the second half, and Odel Laville equalized from a penalty. Although Bermuda eventually secured the win, Dominica’s players earned high praise for their resilience and skillful play.
Team captain Glenson Prince commended the squad’s effort. “While we’re disappointed not to have won, I’m incredibly proud of the team. Despite an own goal and a potential missed foul that led to Bermuda’s second, we kept pushing. We regrouped at halftime, scored, and then got the penalty,” he said. Prince lauded specific players, including Malaki, who stepped up in the midfield, and Ruffison along with the entire defense for their efforts. “After a 6-1 loss, we almost won three days later. We may leave without the win, but we can hold our heads high for our performance.”
Coach Ellington Sabin echoed these sentiments, praising the team’s determination and unity. “The guys followed the game plan, and their performance showed far more resilience than in the first game,” he remarked. Sabin also congratulated the young players stepping up, acknowledging the team’s mix of talent and experience. “We’re not discouraged. We have two more games in November, and we’re aiming for the points needed to stay in League B. I urge Dominicans to keep supporting us as we proudly represent them.”
