Twenty participants representing trade union centres in the Caribbean countries of Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago attended the training on International Labour Standards(ILO).
Dominica was represented by Mrs. Elias Leah Shillingford of the Dominica Amalgamated Workers Union(DAWU).
The main objective of this training was train a group of union leaders and IR officers in the system on International Labour Standards(ILO) and the functioning of the ILO supervisory mechanisms, and to promote its strategic use.
Also, this workshop aimed at enhancing participation in the ILO supervisory mechanisms through submitting of reports to the committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations (CEACR).
All the countries listed above are in default of reporting to the ILO, CEACR and must report by September 1, 2024.
