It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of 97 year old John Maurice Joseph also known as Teacher Maurice, Uncle Moy or Moy of Portsmouth. He passed away on Saturday 21st September 2024 at his residence.
He was a former Primary School Principal, Lay Minister, First Secretary of the Portsmouth Cooperative Credit Union, recipient of the Benemerenti Medal and Medal of Honor by the Government of Dominica, Election Officer, GCE and CXC Administrator, Church Organist and a Scout Master.
He is survived by his children:
Marie Kathleen Lyons, Geraldine John, Augustus ( Cycus) Joseph
Adopted Son: Cyril Paul (Cee Jones)
Grandchildren: Roberta Smith, Nadrina John, K’Aura Williams, Shernicia Celaire and Kadeen Lyons.
Great Grand Children: Xavier and Christopher Smith, Terence Delaby, Aria, Mila and Nya Williams, Alora Lyons
Daughter in Law: Frances Joseph
Son-in-Law: Cleve Lyons

The Funeral for the late John Maurice Joseph will be held on Tuesday 22nd October 2024 at the Portsmouth Roman Catholic Church. Viewing at 2.30 p.m and Mass at 3:00 p.m. Internment at the Portsmouth Roman Catholic Cemetery
A vigil mass for the late John Maurice Joseph will be held on Monday 21st October 2024, at the Portsmouth Roman Catholic Church at 6:00 p.m.
