We regret to announce the death of Jerome Joseph (affectionately known as “Teacher Jerome”) of Portsmouth, who passed away in New Rochelle, New York on April 24, 2019. He was 73.
Jerome was a stalwart of the cultural and social aspects of life in Dominica, particularly in Portsmouth. He was dedicated to his profession as a teacher. During his teaching career in elementary and secondary schools, Jerome graduated from the Dominica Teachers Training College where he eventually became an instructor. For his service to the island in this area, he is popularly remembered as “Teacher Jerome.”
He is survived by his wife Lizzie Joseph, daughter Samantha Joseph, and nine siblings: Neil, Jestina, Anselm, Eslie, Melinda, Joan, Edward, Anthony, and Caroline, and their spouses and significant others; Sisters-in-law: Helen Mellow Pascal & Family (Dominica), Shirley Mellow Registe & Family (England); Brothers-in-law: Jones Mellow & Family (Florida) and Edward Mellow & Family (Dominica); and numerous other relatives and friends, including the Magloire, Rodney, Douglas, Matthew, Laville, Toussaint, Royer, and Barthelemy families, etc.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholson Joseph & Eutina Magloire-Joseph aka Ma Nicholson of Portsmouth.
