DAIC and IOM Supports Resilience Building for Haitian Entrepreneurs in Dominica

Roseau, May 3, 2022 – The Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) and its ARISE Chapter in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with generous support of the US State Department Bureau for Population, Refugees and Migrants (PRM) have curated a Business Continuity Planning Workshop for Haitian Entrepreneurs. This Workshop takes place on Wednesday, May 4th 2022 from 4:30 PM at the Convent High School Auditorium.

Haitian entrepreneurs in Dominica who operate in diverse sectors have confirmed their participation at this workshop to be equipped with the necessary knowledge to operate resilient businesses. This workshop provides the entrepreneurs with free access to CARICHAM Business Continuity Planning Guide and Template, guidelines on how to strengthen the resilience of their business, as well as support and advice from business resilience professionals.

In seeking to build long-term resilience for Dominica, it is important that all groups, especially the most vulnerable are supported.  This is also in-keeping with the Sustainable Development Goals and the global Agenda 2030.  As a result, IOM and DAIC are taking practical action to address this priority. IOM supported DAIC in the development of the Caribbean Chambers of Commerce Business Resilience Toolkit to translate the Business Continuity Planning Guide and Template in Haitian Creole and Dutch. This workshop is essential to ensure optimal use and understanding of these tools.
