With the purpose of strengthening ties between Cuba and the capital of Dominica, the Cuban Ambassador to the island, Miguel Fraga, held a meeting with the Mayor of Roseau, Ermine Royer. During the cordial exchange, which took place at the Mayor’s office, both authorities discussed cooperation issues in areas of mutual interest, in search of a more prosperous and sustainable future for both nations.
The city of Roseau, with its rich history and natural beauty, is the political, economic and cultural center of the country, a city that combines colonial architecture with tropical landscapes, located on the southwest coast of the island, on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. With a population of over 10,000, Roseau is the heart of the nation’s commercial and tourist activities, as well as an important hub connecting it to other Caribbean islands.
At the meeting, Ambassador Fraga highlighted Cuba’s historic commitment to the Caribbean region and especially to Dominica and reaffirmed his country’s willingness to continue collaborating in key sectors, such as human resources training and health. He also stressed the importance of deepening the ties of friendship that have united both countries for decades.
For her part, Mayor Royer expressed her gratitude for the constant support that Cuba has provided to Dominica. She also underscored her interest in exploring new forms of cooperation in priority areas for the city of Roseau.
The meeting concluded with the commitment of both parties to maintain an open and fluid dialogue, with a view to concretizing joint projects that will benefit Roseau as well as other communities on the island. This meeting reflects the solidity of the diplomatic relations between Cuba and Dominica, characterized by solidarity cooperation and an approach focused on the welfare of their peoples.
