On August 24, 2020, the twin island of Antigua and Barbuda made the decision at a cabinet meeting to lift its Covid-19 travel protocols for persons travelling via air to the V.C Bird International Airport.
According to the government, this decision was made with the intention to make travel to Antigua and Barbuda easier and more accessible as well as to avoid the long waiting periods for departure. Despite the changes to travel protocols for airline passengers, the government has decided to keep all protocols in place for the cruise sector until a further decision is made.
Notably, the current Covid-19 protocols provide that a traveller must present a negative certified PCR result taken no more than three (3) days or Rapid Antigen Test taken no more than 24 hours prior to arrival in Antigua and Barbuda. Moreover, the traveller must submit an RT-PCR test on arrival at their own expense and quarantine for ten (10) days in their homes if partially vaccinated.
The new protocols are expected to be updated and taken into effect in the upcoming days. All travellers are urged to be cognizant of the updated travel protocols.
