Chief Elections Officer Explains Requirements for Eligibility to Vote

Chief Elections Officer, Ian Michael Anthony sought to explain the requirements for one’s eligibility to vote in the Commonwealth of Dominica General Elections. Anthony informed that the supplementary list of electors registered is published quarterly, and is done so in order to promote transparency. He also stated that registration for voting is done within each polling district by assistant registering officers.

The requirements for registering to vote is that one must be at least 18 years of age; a resident of the polling district they wish to register for at least three months; a citizen of the Commonwealth of Dominica or a Commonwealth citizen residing in Dominica for a period of 12 months.

Anthony also informed that persons who wish to register for voting must present a Birth Certificate, some form of pictorial identification and also a registered witness who resides in the polling district they wish to get registered in.
