Speaking at a meeting of the Cancer society over the weekend, president of the society Ivonne Alexander said that despite the efforts of he cancer society there is an increase in young persons being diagnosed and subsequently dying as a result of cancer.
She said, “Last year within the space of one month, I personally attended five funerals, three of these were women all younger than me, who died within months of being diagnosed.”
Alexander says that much more needs to be done in terms of public advocacy and awareness but especially in taking responsibility for personal health.
