In an effort to empower Kalinago residents with the view to address the problem of Gender Based Abuse in the Territory, Kibe’kuati Inc has recently launched its newest project.
The project comprise of two components:
1)an awareness campaign including the installation of memorial plaques at 5 sites where five (5) indigenous women were murdered through intimate partner violence.
The campaign will conclude with a March from the Salybia police station to the St. Cyr resource center on November 25th, building awareness of violence against women.
- The project will also rehabilitate individuals facing various forms of abuse using a classroom model where participants can learn while caring for their children.
The program will see 20 individuals who dropped out of school or didn’t get a chance to do CXC subjects get an opportunity to redo four subjects at CXC level. Additionally some will get an opportunity to do pastry making and sewing as a skill.
