Forty- four (44 ) Calypsonians will be eliminated on Saturday as 2019 Kaiso season begins. Fifty-six Calypsonians will compete for 12 places at the Dominica Calypso Association’s(DCA) Calypso Eliminations. This event will be staged at the Harlem Plaza in New Town, on Saturday, January 5, 2018 from 8:00 pm.
President of the DCA, Davidson “Observer” Victor, declared that owing to the record numbers, popular and past Calypso finalists will be competing at the Elimination. As a result, Saturday’s show will be more thrilling than usual. Victor expressed that “This show signals the beginning of Carnival.”
Past finalists: The Webb – Webster Marie, Black Diamond – Jamaal Lloyd, Hunter – Derek St. Rose, Deros – Dexter Peltier and Soul Puss – Dave Pascal are among the 56 Calypsonians. Former road march monarchs, De Intruder – Fredos Peltier and Sour Sour – Charles Isaac will also compete at this Saturday’s event.
