Atherton “Arthie” Martin, an outspoken critic of the government of Dominica, has been arrested and charged with incitement. The arrest complaint which was executed by (Ag) Inspector Janie Jean Pierre on December 18, reads that Mr. Martin “Did unlawfully incite to block a section of road in Roseau namely, the intersection of Castle Street and Church Street by uttering to members of the public present at an unlawful procession which was held at the set location.”
The former government Minister was at the time addressing a public gathering which was called by the Concerned Citizen Movement (CCM) of Dominica to highlight the need for electoral reform.
Martin appeared in Court on Tuesday December 18, 2018 where the charge was read to him and was later granted bail. The matter was adjourned to April 1, 2019.
