After a challenging first game against Bermuda in the CONCACAF Nations League, where they suffered a 6-1 defeat, Dominica’s Men’s National Team is determined to regroup and come back stronger in their next face-off on Tuesday, October 16.
Despite an initial strong start, Dominica missed early scoring opportunities, a misstep that Bermuda capitalized on. Reflecting on the match, head coach Ellington Sabin remains hopeful, noting the team’s resilience. “It was not the result we wanted or expected, but we need to move on and focus on the upcoming game,” Sabin remarked. He commended the efforts of Briel Thomas, despite his unfortunate red card, Travist Joseph who scored Dominica’s lone goal, and captain Glenson Prince, along with younger team members who brought energy into the game.
Captain Glenson Prince acknowledged the loss but found positives in the team’s performance. “We had early chances that could’ve changed the game, but this is football. We have to learn from it, improve, and stay united,” he shared. Prince emphasized the importance of team spirit and the value of their recovery sessions as they prepare to face Bermuda again.
Looking ahead, Dominica will be without Briel Thomas due to his red card, but Chad Bertrand is expected to step up. The team’s morale remains high, with Coach Sabin and the players optimistic about a stronger performance.
The Dominica team extended gratitude to their supporters, promising to deliver a better game on Tuesday.
