MV MEIN SCHIFF 1 TO MAKE INAUGURAL CALL TO DOMINICA

Roseau, Dominica – April 4, 2023 – The MV Mien Schiff 1 of TUI Cruises will make its inaugural visit to Dominica on Wednesday, April 5th,2023. This will mark the ninth inaugural call for the 2022/2023 cruise season. The ship is scheduled to make one call to the island for the 2022/2023 cruise season. A plaque exchange ceremony will be held aboard the ship between government officials and the ship’s captain to commemorate the occasion.

Mein Schiff 1 was put in service in April 2018. The vessel measures 316 meters with a gross tonnage of 111,900. The passenger capacity is 2,894 passengers. Onboard highlights include the new Lagune sun deck area, a 438-metre-long elevated running track, a covered multiplex sports arena, a 25-metre-long outdoor pool, a rock-climbing wall, a 2,000-square-metre fitness area, a large extendable cinema screen, restaurants, bistros, bars, and lounges.

As of April 1 2023, Dominica has received a total of 177 cruise calls. Together, the ships brought in 211,288 cruise passengers with 83,351 passengers engaging in organized tours. This compares to 189,334 passengers and 143 calls for the 2019/2020 season. With the 2022/2023 cruise season coming to a close, thirteen (13) ships are expected to call for the month of April bringing in approximately 25,000 passengers.

The Government of Dominica will continue its effort in the development and promotion of Dominica as a desirable cruise destination.
