The Dominica Chess Federation hosted its first Open Tournament over the weekend

Roseau Dominica- October 25, 2022 The Dominica Chess Federation hosted its first Open Tournament over the weekend (11th November- 13th November 2022).
The tournament consisted of 9 rounds.

After a well fought series of battles, Robert Bridet emerged victorious among the 15 players who started the tournament.

It was a close affair all the way through with 3 players (Nigel, Robert and Lyndon) having strong chances of finishing 1st after day 2, with three players just behind them (Larry, Carlton, Brandon).

The dust settled on Day 3 and Robert Bridet finished 1st with 7.5/9pts.

The Federation congratulates him on a consistent performance throughout the tournament, proving himself worthy to be our Open Champion.

The other competitors proved themselves formidable and honorable players:

2nd – Nigel Francis 7/9

3rd – Carlton Morvan 7/9

4th – Lyndon Auguiste 6.5/9

5th – Larry Thomas 6/9

The two places after the top 5 received trophies also.

6th – Ian Ramrattan 5/9

7th – Che Gittens 5/9

All players tied on points are separated by tiebreaks.
The 1st tiebreaker was Buchholz cut 1, 2nd tiebreaker Buchholz, 3rd tiebreaker greater number of wins, 4th tied. The Dominica Chess Federation sends out a heartfelt congratulations to all the participants, winners, and supporters of the wonderful sport, as we continue to encourage all to take on the sport.
