Roseau Dominica- October 25, 2022– The Dominica Chess Federation hosted its first Open Tournament over the weekend (11th November- 13th November 2022).
The tournament consisted of 9 rounds.
After a well fought series of battles, Robert Bridet emerged victorious among the 15 players who started the tournament.
It was a close affair all the way through with 3 players (Nigel, Robert and Lyndon) having strong chances of finishing 1st after day 2, with three players just behind them (Larry, Carlton, Brandon).
The dust settled on Day 3 and Robert Bridet finished 1st with 7.5/9pts.
The Federation congratulates him on a consistent performance throughout the tournament, proving himself worthy to be our Open Champion.
The other competitors proved themselves formidable and honorable players:

3rd – Carlton Morvan 7/9
4th – Lyndon Auguiste 6.5/9
5th – Larry Thomas 6/9
The two places after the top 5 received trophies also.
6th – Ian Ramrattan 5/9
7th – Che Gittens 5/9
All players tied on points are separated by tiebreaks.
The 1st tiebreaker was Buchholz cut 1, 2nd tiebreaker Buchholz, 3rd tiebreaker greater number of wins, 4th tied.
