The Portsmouth Association of Yacht Services (PAYS) in collaboration with the Portsmouth Indian River Tour Guide Association (PIRTGA) and Secret Bay undertook a major cleanup campaign in and around the Indian River in Portsmouth. There were about forty persons involved in the campaign including the Manager of Secret Bay Gregor Nassief.
Andrew O’brien says that although much was accomplished there is still a significant amount of garbage coming from a storm drain in Portsmouth and a river which flows from the Zicack/Chance area.
O’brien expresses thanks to the management and staff of Secret Bay and the Portsmouth Town Council for the use of a vehicle to dispose of the garbage collected.
He appeals to any organization who is able to assist to come on board and do so as there is still more work to be done. O’brien suggests that something permanent needs to be done to prevent garbage from coming into the Indian River.
