Ms. Jeanelle Colaire from Dos Dane is the top MBA student at the University of the Southern Caribbean in Trinidad.
Jeanelle who is the daughter of John and Verona Colaire says, “I would like to thank God, my parents and also the government of Dominica for helping me throughout this academic journey. Many thanks as well to the staff and student body at USC”.
In 2012, Colaire graduated from the Dominica Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School and in 2017, graduated with honors from the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC) with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting. She then entered the Masters Program and in 2020, completed her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree, with an emphasis in Finance & Accounting.
Colaire has just completed her first week of teaching at the Dominica State College and says that the experience so far has been great.
Her mom, Mrs.Verona Colaire credits God for the success of her child. She say that while there is a back story to every success, behind Jeanelle’s success is an incredible testimony.
She says, “2013 was our faith venture. My husband and I decided to send two children (Jeanelle and Jeaniah) to study at the University of the Southern Caribbean in Trinidad. We didn’t have money but we claimed the scripture that anything we ask God in faith, we will receive and also if we have faith the Lord will reward us openly. A lot of people thought that we were crazy to send two children to study having all that children to support, me being a laundry attendant and my husband a flow contractor. People took our joy for their sorrow. To make a long story short, the Lord provided funds and both children graduated with honors in 2017 attaining their Bachelors degree. Jeanelle didn’t stop their but continued her studies and now holds a Masters degree in Business Administration and made her family and Dominica very proud”.
Mrs. Colaire says that she is ban not about boasting her family but instead she gives God all the praises due to him because “God kept his promises and He did provide funds and rewarded us openly”.
She encourages others to do the same. “My encouragement to parents who think that there’s no hope there is hope. If God did it for us he can do it for you. Parents, stand in the gap for your children, that is our strong hold. Motivate them. I always tell them they can do it and teach them to claim the scripture which says I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me. I taught them to always do their devotion and pray before they study”.
She expresses thanks to the University of the Southern Caribbean, The Government of Dominica, Winfred Silvester, Leon and Corina Leslie in Trinidad for their support. Also, thanks to Murium Leslie and Avlyn Alexis for their encouragement and all those who prayed and celebrated with us on our achievement.
