Clinical Psychologist, Leslie-Ann Waldron Martin says that while society is adjusting to COVID-19 changes, persons will suffer from fatigue.

Martin said that behavioural adjustments such as mask wearing and the reopening of school are two examples of re adjustments persons are making.

She continued, “Some of the older members of our society are still isolated and afraid or have misunderstandings related to the effects of COVID and face quarantine fatigue”.

She said further that persons may also experience emotional fatigue brought on by the fear of economic turmoil, further quarantine periods and loss of connections. She said that grief experienced at this time may not be solely related to COVID-19 but may be coupled with other life challenges. While persons are at different stages of grief, no matter the stage, grief must be acknowledged and dealt with.

Martin warns that persons must not minimize or ignore their pain or compare their feelings with another person’s. She advises that persons reach out to their social support and seek professional help. She says that we must control what is going on inside each of us.
