Curfew Extended By Parliament

The Parliament of Dominica has accepted a bill to further extend the state of emergency and curfew which was declared last week.

According to Attorney General, Levi Peter, the State of Emergency will be further extended by 3 months and the curfew will be further extended by 21 days.

This means that a new curfew order will take in effect on April 21 and will last for 21 days.

The Emergency Powers Act was amended to allow the Executive Branch of Government to exercise greater power in Emergencies like the one faced presently with COVID-19.

The curfew continues Monday to Friday 6p.m -6a.m with the exception of this week. Complete lock down commences from Thursday 9th April from 6p.m until Tuesday 14th April at 6a.m over the Easter holidays.  Citizens are encouraged to adhere to the curfew .
