The Annual General Assembly of the Central American and Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CONCENCABA) was held in Dominica on March 8.
Also present at the Genral Assembly were officials of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The head of FIBA America spoke of the work done by partner organizations like FIBA. She said, “We hope to continue the work done on a daily basis by members of the basketball fraternity… Most of the people in this room are volunteers that are passionate about basketball and they will do things above and beyond their normal jobs and it’s clear that they have the passion to make basketball a very important sport in their own countries, so what we wanna do at FIBA is to continue to guide with the three pillars that are our focus for the next three and a half years”.
The three pillars are
1. Empowering national federation missions
2. Enlarging the FIBA Family including having more participants and more events
3. A focus on women in basketball.
CONCENCABA consists of members of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in Central America and the Caribbean. The president of FIBA Americas is Carol Callan, the first woman ever to hold the position.
