Dominica will join the rest of the world in its observance of World AIDS Day, on December 1st, 2018 with the theme “Know Your Status”. This year, the National HIV and AIDS Response Programme, (NHARP) of the Ministry of Health and Social Services is embarking on a prevention drive in relation to HIV/AIDS and other STIs. The Unit will be carrying out testing across the island from November 28th – December 13th, 2018 at the various health centers in the districts.
The NHARP is focusing on dispelling the Stigma and Discrimination as it relates to persons living and affected by the disease. On Saturday, December 1st, 2018, the Unit will embark on a solidarity walk and ride in collaboration with the Dominica Cycling Association, Dominica Bikers Boys and other non-governmental Organizations aim at eliminating the disease. The routes for the walk and ride are from Pointe Mitchel to Bayfront and from Canefield to the Bayfront. NHARP is encouraging, patrons, advocates, activists, and the public to walk, run or ride in solidarity and stamp out all negative attitude towards those who may be affected or infected with the illness.
