Dominica’s Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit announced during the national budget presentation that the government has set aside an amount of $1.5 million to support persons under the age of 40 years whose annual income is less than $100,000, “who have never owned a home before and are interested in acquiring a home of their own.”
According to him, the money will be provided in the form of a grant voucher to a maximum of $10,000 per home for the purchase of building materials or to be put towards the transfer fees for the purchase of a new home.
Persons must be first time home builders and must present copies of building plans approved by the Physical Planning Division.
The grants which is expected to benefit about 150 young persons will be available from October 1st, 2020 and will be administered by the Ministry of Youth Development.
