In honor of World Marriage Day, celebrated on Sunday 9, February, the Marriage and Engaged Encounter community in Dominica honored three couples who have spent over five decades committed to each other in covenant love.
Eustache and Maria Bellevue who were married as teenagers, 19 and 17 years respectively, have been married for 56 years. They credit their love for and support of each other as that which has sustained their marriage over the years. They are also grateful for the support of their parents and brothers and sisters. Although they have had their challenges, they remained committed to God and focused on raising their children.

Gerard and Melanie Paul has spent 62 years of their lives together as a married couple. They attribute their longevity in marriage to a great love for God, sense of humor and good communication. Gerard says that there is no boss in marriage as some level of compromise must always be practiced. The couple always says good night and good morning to each other.
