GRAND TURK, Turks and Caicos Islands — Newly elected leader of the Progressive National Party (PNP) and leader of the opposition in the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), Washington Misick, was informed by senior management at government-owned Radio Turks and Caicos (RTC) that his scheduled March 15 interview on a popular talk show ‘Expressions’ had been cancelled because of “orders from above”, just days after Misick had revealed that Sandals Resorts International owed $164 million in unpaid taxes and penalties, not the $26 million widely believed.
The snub comes as the People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) government of Premier Sharlene Cartwright-Robinson is currently in the midst of a political firestorm over the tax dispute with Sandals.
