Minister for Trade and Commerce, Hon. Ian Douglas gave his commitment to helping the manufacturing industry to be the driver of exports in Dominica and to increase the industry’s contribution to Dominica’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
He said, “ My vision places manufacturing at the core of the new ministry and as the minister for trade and commerce I’m happy to share this new vision of increase production for sustainable employment and export”.
The Minister noted that he knows what it will take to achieve the aforementioned goals.
He continued, ” I am aware that you need both technical and financial support to realize the production aspirations suggested by this mission”.
Douglas said that all the work done by previous ministries will be accelerated under his leadership.
Douglas made these statements at a Dominica Manufacturers Association (DMA) Symposium held on Thursday 27, February at the Goodwill Parish Hall under the theme: “To step up production for sustainable employment and export.”
