The UWI Five Islands Campus, Antigua and Barbuda, Thursday May 7, 2026. – The University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus will conduct a three-day community engagement mission to the Commonwealth of Dominica from Monday, May 11, through Wednesday, May 13, 2026. The delegation, led by Pro Vice-Chancellor and Campus Principal Professor C. Justin Robinson, will hold discussions with senior government officials, deliver a public lecture on economic strategy for the region, and host an Open House in collaboration with the Dominica State College to promote access to higher education across the Eastern Caribbean.
Upon arrival in Dominica, Professor Robinson will meet with senior officials of the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. The meetings are expected to address opportunities for expanded collaboration in areas including educational opportunities for citizens, research, and the alignment of UWI academic programmes with national development priorities.
On the evening of Tuesday, May 12, Professor Robinson will deliver a public lecture at Dominica State College at 5 p.m. Titled “No One Is Coming to Save Us: Economic Strategies for the Nature Isle in a Changing Global Order,” the lecture will examine the economic challenges and opportunities confronting Dominica and the wider Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) amid shifting geopolitical and trade dynamics. The lecture is free and open to the public.
“The geopolitical tide is turning, and small island states cannot afford to be passive observers. A high-quality university education – one rooted in the realities of our Caribbean context – is not a luxury; it is the single most powerful instrument our people have for shaping their own economic destiny.” noted Professor Robinson. “The UWI Five Islands Campus exists precisely to ensure that young men and women across the OECS have access to that opportunity, so that when the global order shifts as it is shifting now that we are architects of the response, not subjects of it.”
Also on May 12, The UWI Five Islands Campus team will host the Dominica Open House 2026 in collaboration with Dominica State College, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the college’s campus. Prospective students, parents, and members of the public are invited to learn about The UWI Five Islands Campus’s academic programmes, the application process, financing options, and student life. Campus representatives will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions and assist with enrolment inquiries.
The Open House reflects the campus’ commitment to expanding access to world-class tertiary education for residents of Dominica and the broader OECS sub-region, ensuring that geographic and economic barriers do not prevent talented students from pursuing university-level study.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
