The Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities (DAPD) Inc. successfully convened its 42nd Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 27th May 2026, under the theme: “Sustaining the Disability Movement in a Rapidly Changing Global Environment.”

Among items on the meeting’s Agenda, was the Election of Officers, at which time, three members were elected to its Board of Directors. Re-elected were Judy Sango and Nathalie Murphy. Jessinta Worrell was elected to replace Loik Charles who had tendered his resignation.

These three persons joined four other directors to complete the seven-member governing body of the organization.

On Thursday 4th June 2026,  in keeping with its Constitutional mandate, a Special Meeting was held to elect officers to serve in various positions on its Board of Directors for the 2026/2027 term.

The newly constituted Board of Directors comprises:

  • President: Judy Sango – re-elected un-opposed
  • Vice President: Sonia Julien Blackwell – re-elected un-opposed
  • Secretary: Seraphine Jno. Lewis – re-elected un-opposed
  • Treasurer: Nathalie Murphy – re-elected un-opposed
  • Mathias Bruno was appointed Assistant Secretary/Treasurer
  • Timeus Pierre-Louis was appointed to the newly created position of Communications Officer
  • Jessinta Worrell completes the seven-member Board.

Together, these leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the rights and opportunities of

persons with disabilities across Dominica and bring dedication, expertise, and vision for the continued growth of the disability movement.

Meanwhile, DAPD is observing June as Membership Outreach Month and undertaking a Membership Drive as activities for the 2026 Calendar of Events continue.

As part of this initiative, visits are being undertaken to communities around the island with a view to  re-connect with members who, due to various circumstances, are unable to  attend programmes, may have become inactive, and make contact with others who may be interested in becoming members.

Our outreach efforts reflect DAPD’s core mission of inclusion and care. We are committed to

ensuring that every member feels valued and engaged, regardless of their circumstances.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
