“Both the United Workers Party (UWP) and the  Dominica Labour Party (DLP) wanted her to be the  Roseau North candidate. She chose the DLP.”

There is something very important that the people of Roseau North deserve to know.

Before accepting the invitation to represent the Dominica Labour Party, Ashma McDougall, was approached by the leadership of the United Workers Party and invited to become their  candidate for Roseau North.

They saw in her what we saw. Intelligence. Leadership. Credibility. Discipline. Purpose.  Energy. A genuine connection to the people.

She met with them. She listened respectfully to their proposal. They told her they believed she  represented the future of their party and their leadership team.

After careful consideration, she declined.

She declined because she believed she could accomplish more for the people of Roseau  North as part of the Dominica Labour Party and a Government team with the ability to deliver  results.

Think about that for a moment.

The very same opposition leadership now asking you to vote once again for Danny Lugay, had  already begun looking beyond him. They were actively searching for a new face, a new  direction and a new future for Roseau North.

Why?

Because after three elections, they themselves recognized what many voters already know:  Roseau North deserves more than the politics of repetition. It deserves fresh energy, fresh  ideas and a representative who can build partnerships and get things done.

When both major political parties looked at the future of Roseau North, they identified the same  person.

The difference is that Ashma McDougall made her choice.

She chose progress over protest.

She chose development over division.

She chose to work with a government that has the capacity to deliver opportunities,  infrastructure, housing, education, healthcare and community development for the people of  Goodwill, St. Aroment, Pottersville, Gutter, Stock Farm, Yam Piece, Tarish Pit, Bellevue Rawle,  Louisville and Morne Daniel.

This by-election is not simply about choosing between two candidates.

It is about choosing between the future and the past.

Between new leadership and the same old politics.

Between moving forward and standing still.

If the UWP leadership believed only months ago that Ashma McDougall was the better choice  for Roseau North, then the people of Roseau North should ask themselves one simple  question:

Why should we settle for yesterday when we can vote for tomorrow?

Ashma McDougall is the candidate both parties wanted.

She is the candidate who chose Roseau North.

Now Roseau North has the opportunity to choose her.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
