In a heartwarming show of community spirit, the employees of regional insurance company Sagicor have come together to support the annual back-to-school backpack initiative which is aimed at providing underprivileged children with essential school supplies.
The initiative, organized by the Kalinago Child Support Foundation helps ensure that children from low-income families start the school year on the right foot with fully equipped backpacks. Thanks to the generosity of the Sagicor team, Amanda Theodore-Langlais, Founder and Executive Director of the Kalinago Child Support Foundation Inc said many children will now receive the tools they need to succeed in their studies.
“We believe in the power of education and the importance of giving back to the community,” said Cheryl Rolle, General Manager and Principal Representative for Sagicor in Dominica. “Our employees are passionate about making a positive impact, and this initiative is a perfect example of how we can come together to support children and families in need.”
The backpacks were filled with supplies such as notebooks, pencils, crayons, and other classroom essentials were also donated such as books, writing pads, filler paper and pens.
Ms. Theodore- Langlais, who was present at Sagicor’s offices on Monday 9th September along with Assistant PRO Annell Eustache to receive the donation said, “The Kalinago Child Support Foundation is delighted to receive these supplies which will go along way to helping the children do well in school, this academic year. We’re grateful to Sagicor, particularly for the support of their generous team members.”
