Recruitment firm says it’s the remedy for job informality in Dominica

A regional recruitment service is saying it’s just the resource available to help more Dominicans pursue formal employment, in line with recommendations from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other notable international organizations.

Caribbean Employment Services Inc. is a market-leading digital talent acquisition service that aims to connect the top talent from the Caribbean with hiring managers, HR professionals and decision-makers in companies both within the Caribbean as well as abroad. It has helped hundreds of residents with job placement, and its clients include government agencies, renowned corporations and small businesses from the Caribbean, North America and Europe.

“We modernize the process to help residents get hired and help businesses quickly fill vacancies,” says Joseph Boll, Caribbean Employment Services Inc. CEO. “There’s no question that informal jobs can leave people most vulnerable and at risk of poverty, but many also don’t realize they have a resource to help them get hired so quickly right at their fingertips.”

Informal employment has skyrocketed in many Caribbean countries thanks to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The issue was even worse in countries that were reliant on tourism, which came to a standstill during pandemic-related travel restrictions. With most tourism workers being laid off, many turned to informal jobs to stay afloat in the interim. However, as the economy of respective countries recovered, high instances of job informality still remained.

Organizations like the World Bank, IMF and many others have called for urgent action to counteract the high instances of job informality in the Caribbean as the region rebounds economically. Most recently, the IMF found that job formality in Dominica, particularly, is not keeping up with its recovering GDP, unlike in countries like Jamaica and Barbados where efforts to diversify the economy are paying off. This is where resources and services like those provided by Caribbean Employment Services Inc. can come into play to help residents quickly and efficiently access formal job opportunities.

The only potential challenge lies in digital access, which has been a struggle for some LAC regions. However, once the right infrastructure support is in place, residents can start pursuing more stable ways to earn a living through the Caribbean Employment Services Inc. website.

“It only takes a few minutes to browse job openings and apply,” says Boll. “That’s all it takes to make the kind of change that could dramatically improve your life forever.”

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
