The Commonwealth of Dominica held its carnival celebrations dubbed Mas an Lawi on the 20th and 21st, February, 2023 after a two- year break caused by the Covid -19 pandemic.

In the lead up to the two days of carnival, there were a number of well-organized events that warrant commendation.

As the Minister for National Security and Legal Affairs and on behalf of the Government of Dominica, I wish to commend, firstly, the officers of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) for their outstanding and proactive efforts in preserving and maintaining the peace and the general managing of traffic and events. I am happy to report that there were no major  incidents during the celebrations.

I also wish to commend the Fire and Ambulance Service, musicians, organizers of events, in particular, the officials of the Ministry of Tourism and you the patrons. Let us continue to preserve law and order.
