The Rotary Club of Portsmouth must be commended for its innovation in supporting the Plastic Recycle Center of Portsmouth. The facility which is fully operational is involved in recycling plastics into jewelry and other items which may be sold to the general public.

Manager of the Recycle Center, Ashton Riviere, says that the biggest challenge is that persons are still disposing of garbage improperly. He said when the items are disposed of in the environment, they get dirty and have to be picked up, washed and sorted. However, if persons would dispose of their items properly or bring them directly into the center, it would be beneficial.

The center has keyrings made from bottle caps and earrings made from plastic cups and plates on sale.
