The Ministry of Environment, Climate Resilience, and Urban Renewal have begun a national beautification project to replant the country’s flora and fauna. The project got on the way at Reunion Park in Goodwill where stakeholders participated in tree planting there.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry said that phase one will encompass the airport down to Kempinski hotel in Belle Hall and also, Pointe Mitchel to Soufriere. She said this project is an extension of the 1000 trees project.
“What we decided to do as a department was to extend that campaign outside of the forest ranges and to bring that campaign to the communities, to the roadways, and the highways where it can be visible and where we can excite people about planting trees”.
Minister for the Environment, Hon. Joseph Isaac said that he believes that families are responsible to play a part in fulfilling the goal of planting one million trees.
