PCSS Valedictorian Rises Over Every Struggle

The Pierre Charles Secondary School (PCSS) celebrated its 2020 graduates in grand style. The students were adorned with face masks, a reminder of the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic which they did not allow to dampen their spirits or their ceremony.

It was a true celebration of the hard work and resulting success of the students, staff and the school by extension.

2020 valedictorian, Samine Darroux, who hails from the community of Petite Savanne, was described as a star, a gem, a diamond, a life incomparable, a jovial and positive spirit, who overcame the unexpected loss of her dad, and resulting turmoil  as Tropical Storm Erika wreaked havoc on her community which forced her to be relocated three times. Darroux didn’t let her struggles affect her academic pursuits as she worked hard to be on the principals list and honor roll throughout her five years at PCSS and to ultimately finish as the Valedictorian. Darroux was also involved in sports and extra curricular activities at school and in the community.

Darroux said that it gives her great joy and honor to stand before her class. Overcome by emotion, Darroux was cheered on by her friends as she expressed thanks to God, parents and other family members, and the principal and staff of the PCSS who all contributed to the successful completion of high school.

Darroux spoke of some truths learned throughout the time spent at PCSS which included that opportunities will always present themselves and that they need to be ready to make the best use of them and that they need to be creative thinkers in today’s world and work collaboratively as team work always make the dream work.

The Salutatorian award was copped by Carlisa Martin while the Student of the Year Award went to Abigail Morancie.

The featured speaker was Clinical Psychologist in the Ministry of Education, Ms.Techar Cuffy.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
