Bus drivers in the commonwealth of Dominica took to the streets on Monday in protest action calling for Government to make good on promises.
Motorists coming from Mahaut were seriously affected when bus drivers along the route began driving slowly causing traffic to be backed up for miles.
Emonews spoke with a few bus drivers who expressed that this action is in relation to the help promised by Government which they are yet to receive after many months. They said that during the pandemic they carried reduced number of passengers and received no help. Then they were told to apply for a loan at the Agriculture and Industrial Development (AID) Bank. Many of them said that although they have brought in all their documents, they have not even received a response from the bank.
Meanwhile police officers were deployed along the route to keep the traffic flowing. One officer was involved in an altercation with a bus driver which resulted in other officers intervening to the extent that a shot was fired grazing the back of the individual involved. He was subsequently taken to the hospital.
Minister for Public Works, Hon. Cassani Laville has since responded by apologizing to the public and condemning what he referred to as lawlessness by bus drivers.

This report appears to be biased and i strongly believe that the live footage which shows the unbiased truth of what happened should have been included along with this article. In my Humble opinion, i believe this is what a true professional in the field of Journalism would have done to provide the world, not just Dominicans, the unbiased truth.
