Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Development Foundation of Dominica (NDFD), Nicholas Bruno has said that he is satisfied with the first Green Innovations Summit which officially began on June 3rd.
Bruno met with the NDFD’s Executive Director, Business and Entrepreneurial Development Manager, and overall Event Coordinator ahead of the start of the Summit and approved the program design and activities developed by the organizing team.
On June 1st, fifteen(15) participants who were selected out of all entries received proceeded to the Idea Lab section of the summit. In the Idea Lab, the participants listened to a panel discussion from experts of the environmental areas whose problems they intend to tackle. They then amended their ideas and presented to a group of judges who selected ten(10) of the fifteen(15) participants to proceed to the formal three-day Green Innovations Summit.
At the formal summit which began on June 3rd, ten(10) participants began the process of working with their trainers and mentors to fine tune their business ideas in order to present a final pitch to a panel of judges.Bruno said that he is pleased with the trainers and mentors who have been selected for the summit and thanks them all for their support.
The Green Innovations Summit is part of the Green Program launched by the NDFD last March. It is an open competition and capacity-building event which is geared towards assisting aspiring Green entrepreneurs to develop environment-friendly business ideas, learn the most important aspects of effectively running a business, and acquire the most effective techniques in pitching their business ideas to potential investors.
The Green Innovations Summit began on June 3rd and will end on June 5th. It is being organized by the NDFD, in partnership with Dominica Youth Business Trust and the National Youth Council of Dominica.
