MVO Staff Participate in Regional Seismic Knowledge Exchange

Two members of the Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO), Arvid Ramdeane, Software Engineer, and Venus Bass, Seismic Technician, recently represented the observatory at a Technical Knowledge Exchange hosted by Cuba’s National Seismic Research Institute (CENAIS) and the UWI Seismic Research Centre in Trinidad and Tobago.

The programme brought together participants from across the Caribbean to share expertise, strengthen technical capabilities, and engage in hands-on training sessions focused on SeisComP, a widely used open-source platform for seismic monitoring.

According to the MVO, the exchange highlighted the value of regional collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous professional development in enhancing seismic monitoring systems and supporting disaster risk reduction efforts throughout the Caribbean.

The initiative also provided an opportunity for participants to build stronger professional networks and promote greater cooperation among regional institutions responsible for monitoring seismic activity and natural hazards.

The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
