The Ministry of Agriculture has commenced the 45th Basic Fishermen Training Course which will run from Monday 22 to Friday 26 February.
Fisheries officer, Kurt Hilton says, “We have a wide demography of persons that we expect to show up in this training session…This training covers several key aspects of the fishing sector a few of which include Social Security for Fisherfolk, Safety of Life at Sea, Fishing as a Business and Food handling”.
There are 10 participants from the Western part of the island, 9 from the North, 5 from the East and 9 from the South.
The training session is geared towards training new fisherfolk who are coming into the sector.
