Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Blue and Green Economy, Hon Roland Royer visits farmers

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Blue and Green Economy, Hon Roland Royer accompanied by Hon Jullan Defoe and the Technical Officers of the Ministry continued his tour of the Agricultural Regions, with tour of the Northeast Agricultural Region yesterday.

The ‘Meet the Farmers Tour” is part of the Minister’s outreach to meet as many farmers as possible within their holdings and to better understand any constraints with the progress of the Ministry’s projects and programmes.

Several farmers engaged in Livestock and Crop production and benefecieries of the World Bank funded Emergency Agricultural Livelihoods and Climate Resilience Project were visited including:

Poultry Farmers Mr Kiki Laronde and Edmond and Joycemia Henderson

Seamoss Group- Wooty Seamsoss

Cocoa Farmer in Vaux Hall Mr Gore

Chocolate Factory of Allan Napier

Passionfruit farmer and processor – Johnny Nixon

Agroprocessing – Nature Blends Ms Lakeyia Joseph

A general Farmers meeting was held at the North East comprehensive School. Farmers new to the industry were introduced to their regional team with long serving members of the farming and fishing communities relaying concerns and areas requiring improvements for the increase in productivity and efficiency.
