On Monday 11th April 2022, the Marigot Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. made a financial donation of XCD$10,000.00 to the Dominica Amateur Athletics Association (DAAA) in preparation for the CARIFTA games carded to be held in Jamaica from April 16th to 18th 2022.
General Manager, Mr. Reginald Robin expressed, “On behalf of the Marigot Co-operative Credit Union Ltd, the board of directors, management and staff, we are pleased to make a contribution towards the travel and other expenses of Dominican participants at this year’s CARIFTA Games.”
Mr. Godwin Dorsette, President of the Dominica Amateur Athletics Association accepted receipt of the contribution. “Thank you very much Mr. Robin and other members of the management and staff of the Marigot Co-operative Credit Union. It is very pleasing and very timely that we have been able to receive this generous contribution from you. I know that all our athletes are very excited and we do hope that we can be successful. We will be out there raising the flag of Dominica at these games,” he voiced.
According to Dorsette, Dominica will be represented by eleven (11) athletes and three (3) officials forming the coaching and medical staff.
Notably, the CARIFTA games has not been held for the past two years due to the ongoing pandemic. Nonetheless, the DAAA is indeed thankful for the contribution towards their attendance at the games and is confident that the athletes will represent with pride and dignity.
