The Mahaut Constituency Roof Repair and Housing Expansion received a further grant of $3.8 million dollars. Parliamentary Representative for the constituency Honourable Rayburn Blackmoore stated that because materials were provided during the first phase, his ministry was able to subtract these costs from the overall cost resulting in savings of almost $1 million dollars.
Mr. Blackmoore mentioned that 18 new homes were built in the first and second phase of the program and an expected 24 homes will be built and 75 roofs will be repaired in this new phase. The designs for Layou Park and gradual relocation of the residents of Campbell will also be included in this year’s financial budget cycle.
The Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Housing, Mr. Reginald Severin appealed to the contractors to co-operate with the Ministry and the codes provided by the Housing Division to prevent compromising the homes that have been carded for repair.
