February from 9am.

On Saturday 20th January, visitors, shoppers, diners and passersby were treated to the excitement of live “Pan in The City” renditions in front of the Prevo Cinemall this Saturday it’s Traditional Mas.

Sugar Fire one of Dominica’s leading Traditional Lapeau Cabrit Mas bands who have won several of the Traditional Mas bands competitions on the island. The band has also performed in several neighbouring islands including Antigua, Tortola and St Martin.

This Saturday Sugar Fire comes to the city fresh from its vibrating performance at the opening of The Grandbay Carnival which took place last Saturday, 20th January.

According to the General Manager of Prevo Cinemall, Vanessa Prevost, “With Carnival around the corner, the “Prevo Cinemall’s Mas in the City” aims to give the early visitors, returnees, shoppers and diners at the Prevo Cinemall an opportunity to jumpstart their Carnival with a taste of Traditional Community Mas. Additionally, with Traditional Mas under threat from the modern carnival bands and modern music, the Prevo Cinemall’s Mas in the City also aims to give an incentive to the Traditional Mas bands from various communities to live on and pass on the tradition. Indeed, during the days ahead, leading up to carnival, visitors, including our cruise ship visitors, shoppers and diners can expect to enjoy more carnival action at The Prevo Cinemall, coming from the Traditional bands of both the west and east coast communities.”
